Engage Scotland offers a programme of events, projects and research supporting those working in learning and engagement in visual arts venues in Scotland. Several events, including networking and training meetings, are held each year across Scotland reflecting themes and concerns within the sector.
We currently have over 80 members representing organisations, artists and freelance gallery educators from across Scotland. Members include The National Galleries of Scotland; Glasgow Life; The Travelling Gallery, Pier Arts Centre, Stromness; Project Ability, Glasgow and Mount Stuart, Bute.
Members can influence the programme of events by requesting specific training, suggesting speakers and venues.
Membership of Engage Scotland also gives members opportunities to promote their education and learning activities through taking part in events such as Children’s Art Week and sharing good practice through the Engage Scotland monthly enewsletter.
A key part of what we do is to advocate for gallery and visual arts education and gallery educators in Scotland. This includes giving talks to students, attending conferences and responding on behalf of the sector to major policy initiatives such as the Curriculum for Excellence and the Cultural Strategy.
